Anyone with $4,600 burning a hole in their pocket?

Interest in the format is growing! there is a serious photographer on the east coast-just acquired an Empire 14 x 17 and another major voice in photography in the west, yea even a sage, just acquired a Wisner 14 x 17, and I learned on this thread that Canham has added the 14 x 17 to his catalog (and also a new 20 x 24 special order)...

I've bought a couple of items from this guy. He tends to be overpriced and I would read his descriptions very conservatively, but sometimes things will sit unsold for a year, and he'll drop the price to something reasonable if not cheap, and if it's a good item, it may be worth it.

Have you looked at his other items for sale? Everything seems to be around $1000 - $2500. Even things I would expect to pay about £200 ($380) for.

8X20 Folmer & Schwing

I think 1417 is ideal for ulf size and i've always wanted one.

The price isn't too bad but one just sold a couple weeks ago for 2500 with 2 lotus film holders and a lens. i'de take 2 lotus holders over 4 antique ones any day. These antique film holders are certain to leak and they all probably need to be tuned up. The light traps may also be shot you never know until you get them. Anyway if you can burn 10shts of 14x17 in one shoot then you can afford the price for this.

Agreed, (IMH and prejudiced opinion)

You can also shoot 11 x 14- using the 14 x 17 holders and with a mask shoot 2, 7 x 17 s ... this works nice for verticals ....

The format is sweeping the country! There are now 14 x 17 Wisner cameras in 25 percent of all the counties in Nevada. We could be literally fighting for tripod space in the near future...

Also on Ebay, it included the bed extension, lens and two Lotus holders. But the selling price actually was $2000. And it's in beautiful condition.

Did F&S ever make an 8x20? The fiberq site seems to say "no", but there's always a surprise or two out there.

I like my Korona 8x20, but it's a tad flimsy. I guess if it was heavier I'd never drag it around the city (sold my car 9 years ago), though.
