I opened a new batch of FA EW recently, acidified it, and have had nothing be complete print failures with it... I use it for gum-over pt/pd.

I'm not sure how long ago I got it, but within the last few years (I normally buy a handful of packs at a time).

I've never had the paper fail on me before, so I'm wondering whether this is an oddity, or if the paper has become incompatible with pt/pd?

I can't help you with the Pt/Pd processes,
but I used the Fabriano Artistico Extra White for cyanotype and it always properly behaved.

Acidification of the paper has always given me good results.
I would check for a possible contamination of the paper, the water used, etc.

I'm pretty sure that forum member (there was a url link here which no longer exists) (Bert) uses FabA EW for alt-processes, but not sure for pt/pd. you might want to shoot him a PM to ask

I am not sure if Pt/Pd can be done over Gum but I think gum over another process other than Cyano might just be the issue (not chemically proficient enough to be a guide sorry).

I had tremendous problems with arches platine, and have switched to two others. I know Christina Anderson recommends the Fabriano.

I use Fabriano Extra White often (I like it). But I've never made pt/pd prints yet. (Would love to learn though).
I like the Extra White better than the White version, for the White version is a bit too yellow to my taste (unless you want a warmer print).
