Is anyone using a Wolf Tripod or seen one in person? I was looking at current tripods made of wood and found their website and a very few comments by doing a Google search. How do they compare with others? How is their fit and finish of metal and wood parts? As it appears they only are sold direct from the factory in Germany - I would like some information before making an order. Thanks -

I saw one at B&H once and was very tempted to buy it, but this particular model didn't have as much extension as I wanted. The quality seemed comparable to Berlebach, not as nice as Ries.

I do have one. It is a single extention model: 8012L
It caries my 8x10" and 7x17" who weigh up to 10KG including lens and Gitzo R4 head.

The finish of the wood is very basic. The legs tend to bend a bit when spread wide out.
Metalwork is OK but the clamps' screws need adjusting every now and then.

I can't compair to other wooden tripods since I haven't seen any other in my life!

Contact with the factory was OK. I think they do have a dealer in the USA, you might ask them first.

Greetings,
G

wolf tripod

seemed like a great tripod. I tried to buy one from them and never could get an answer, even sent a snail mail letter and got no answer.

for wood, Reis is the easiest to use.
