Pyrocat -> TF-4 works fine! and so does Ole's OF-1 and Pyrocat!

I use a thirty second wash between Pyrocat-hd and TF-4. Did the same with acid fixer also. I have NEVER in 35 years used a stop with film. My times developed were with that as a constant. I have also read a couple of times where people had pin holes in the emulsion and it was attributed to stop bath. I don't go directly into the fixer so as to keep it from bring contaminated, as much as possible by developer. Now that I print with TF-4 I use water bath there also. Afterwawds I soak the film in water for thirty minutes with 5 changes of water and my ph meter matches the tap.

Wow. What a lot of feedback! This place is great. MYy TF-4 hasnt arrived yet but though I would try a water stop bath with my current fixer (Ilford Rapid Fixer). Used Tri-X 400 in D76 1+1 20°C for 10 mins. Poured out the developer 15 secs before the end then did 5 changes of water, agitating for 10 secs each change - for about 1.5 mins. Then into the fresh fixer for 2 mins. No problem at all. Development does not look as though it had a problem stopping. Highlights and shadows OK. I cant see any density issues and the prints look fine. Great to be using 1 chemical less in my process.

And saves on distilled water as well. I put a 120 roll of
HP5+ through 1/2 liter of ACU-1. The ACU-1 being 1/12
part of that 1/2 liter. That is 1/24 of a liter or 41 2/3 ml.
My splits method of portioning out chemistry yields such
fractional dilutions.

Four inversion at solution in, three at one minute
and three more every other minute; twelve minutes.
Solution temperature in 72F, out 72.7. Ph by paper
10.5. The MSDS does say carbonate.
Highlights a little dense.

Fixer at this time, the usual A. Thio. unadulterated,
1/64 liter. The A. Thio. being 1/32 part of a 1/2 liter
fixer. Constant agitation the first minute then four
each minute. Check at 6 minutes, clear. I'll check
sooner next roll. Dan
