Hi,

I have 10 rolls of 120 portra and I need them to dry quick. Anyone tried isopropyl alcohol as a final rinse on color negatives? Is it for B&W only?

I have 91% isopropyl alcohol. Should I mix it with distilled water 50:50? or dip it in alcohol only? Should I add some photoflo?

Thanks!

When you process colour C41 film you must use as a final rinse something that prevents bacterial deterioration. Do not use alcohol, because it may interfere with that protection.

I have used straight methylated spirit when I needed some negs to dry immediately. It worked fine but I later rewashed and stabilised.

BTW guys, based on the fact that the emulsion is hygroscopic - rinsing in isopropanol or petroleum spirits is not going to magically remove all moisture from the film instantly. The surface may look dry - but the film is far from dry.
