I want to shoot with my 5x7 but will want to enlarge the neg digitally in the future. If anything is worth doing that with.

Considering the cost of 5x7 film, x-ray film is much more reasonable. Is it too dense to scan?

Nope. I have scanned it and made digital negatives. I use double-sided, green latitude. Nice thing about scanning it in, is that you can sharpen it up a bit...and do all you dodge/burns.

Sweet. Thanks Andrew.

Is it too dense to scan?
No, but you gotta like the other characteristics that set it apart from regular camera film. Most x-ray film is double-sided, although you can get single-sided mammography if you look hard enough and pay a little more. It'll be orthochromatic or only blue-sensitive depending on which kind you get. But in terms of density, you can make it as dense or as thin as you like. The blue base is not a problem for scanning.

What other characteristics?

As said, double sided, orthochromatic and I'd add easily scratched and takes some getting used to to get the desired contrast. The double-sided stuff also tends to show very strong halation.
