Anyone out there? (Great Lakes Region)

I was at Viaduct Park the other day. Maybe some of you had been there before, but I don't recall ever going there, so it was a first time for me.

The Canadian smoke gives the light a lovely autumnal feel. I don't know that it can be captured on film - Kodachrome 25, maybe.

An 8x10 B&W contact print might catch the quality of the light, but I wouldn't put much stock in it.

"With 4x5 you can see all the details, with 8x10 you can see the air." No idea who said it, or even if anyone said it.

'Course, you get enough smoke and it all turns to Blade Runner. Wonder, if in the future, those movie scenes will be referred to as 'Canadian smoke sky.'

I was just outside looking at the light quality.

The sky is a white dome filling in all the shadows while the direct sunlight is attenuated. Interestingly, the exposure is sunny-16, which is quite bright for Cleveland. It seems the attenuation of direct sunlight is balanced by the extra diffuse light from the sky.

The color of the light gives me the impression of a very light pinkish blue - I know, that is a color we can not see, call it a subdued warm shade of "Octarine."

I'm just curious about the N64 fog/smoke effect. I've been shooting and we'll see what happens on development.

Pre-E6 Agfachrome would have been a good choice as well.
It would be worthwhile experimenting with current Ektar and some careful on-camera filtration.
 
Due to this thread, I just got back from trying to 'document' the air with some images. Probably had the wrong lens, I was using my new 24/1.4 and this made any 'distant haze' pretty small in the image.
 
I took some portraits on a M645 around 8pm yesterday with the big 'ol red ball of a sun in the background.

Hello to all the gang here. Just mentioned Nicholas' enlarging meter to an old friend in a densitometry email discussion. I'm back in NE OH. Family health issues are resolved and I'm back to determining my own schedule. Just rescued an Omega DII and carriers from the home of a friend's father and am cleaning it up for my son David, who now resides near Sebastopol, CA. Haven't shot any film for a few years because of lack of time, but hope to get back in the darkroom soon. I also shoot digital now, with all free, open source software.

Hope to get to Photostock next year ('24), and more consistently after that. I'm up for photo outings in the area.

I can’t drive around the parks here without thinking about our gatherings in this area. I try to rejuvenate the excitement I had using 8x10 the first time.
 
hello my friends, I'm just gonna throw this out there.... I know some of you use BTZS... Hopefully receiving a short 'quick and dirty' answer...
does anyone have the BTZS reciprocity code figured out for WinPlotter, (used when exporting a film profile to ExpoDev) using HP5+ and Pyrocat-HD @ 1:1:100 around 70degs? None of the films in the database use Pyrocat.
