This is also from about ten years ago. The parking spot for this trail is now closed and one is required to hike about a mile just to get to the old parking spot.
I recall when I took this, it was a climb with the 8x10 just to get here from the old parking spot.

This is from the "Ledges" area and is a very recent image. Over the last 15 years I must have walked by this many times an not 'seen' the image until that day when the lighting was just right. I was fortunate to have my 8x10 at the time. Maybe ten years ago there was a tree where the stump is now.

Another very recent image from the boardwalk over Beaver Marsh. Again I had the 8x10, but close examination shows movement, as the boardwalk is not stable, even when no one is walking or riding on it.

I never showed anyone the path to this area, because, other than this brief moment when dark clouds opened up, there really is nothing there. Again, luck to be lugging the 8x10 at the time.

My! You have been busy! And your images are wonderful as always.

I have been to Photostock, then Maine and back, so that took up much of my time, then finding a pack suitable to carry my newly acquired gear (undoubtedly can't get any heavier!), and finally my car broke (subframe) so have been spending a lot of time on that. And just have been tied up.
As for Pennsylvania locations, I'm at a loss, especially for large format which is why I looked up our old group, hoping to force my self to go out. The place I have become very fond of is in Cook Forest State Park. It's a bit mountainous, but if you like to climb with a pack it's great. I haven't ventured out climbing trails with this pack (about 45 lbs) yet, so I'm going to have to get back in shape. Most of the places where I do go require a lot of walking until I find something that calls to me. I'm relearning everything at this point, since it's been a while since I've done any field work with an 8x10.
I think we should keep this going and eventually settle on something that works with scheduling. Once I get used to carrying the pack, I'll feel better.

I'll try to find someplace that is within a reasonable distance to where we used to go, only in PA. I also very much enjoy the North Country Trail, but am not really familiar with the Ohio side.

So I rekindled this thread, and then I ignored everyone. Sorry about that. Had my firm’s year end, and then have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck.

Good to see comments from some old friends. The time I have for photography has really been cut back since we used to meet. Since that time, Courtney and I have had two daughters.

But I do keep returning to some old favorite spots, particularly a nearby bridge that has graffiti. Here’s a photo taken with the Rolleiflex, The Metro Parks attempt at covering up some graffiti.

Glad to hear you are doing well. I just got back from using the F100 I got form you many years ago. Even with that nice little bag you gave me with it that has the protective rain cover. It is very nice, have not found anything better.

Do you still have a darkroom?

It has been over ten years since the first get-together, so that is less than one good image a year since then

I actually never set one up. Ended up selling my 4x5 enlarger. I have been working using a hybrid process these last several years. After scanning, doing some minor tweaks (contrast, spotting) in Lightroom, and then printing with a company called Digital Silver Imaging. So I’m starting out with silver and ending with silver.

Glad to hear the Nikon is still serving you well. I ended up buying a new F 100 for Courtney, but she hardly used it. I just pulled a roll of film out that was in there for six or seven years.

I found the initial thread the brought many together on this current thread, it is from 2010. Kind of a "Photostock Lite" get together. Bill Schwab (Photostock creator) even came:

Huh.

Was just down by the canal last week. Shot a roll through an OM-1. And learned that there's a reason why pros used Nikon almost exclusively. I've never had a glitch with Nikon. Either they worked or didn't. The OM-1 with the MD worked, and then maybe didn't or did or giving it a slap got it working again. Lovely camera and combo but if I need the shot, out comes the Nikon.

If you can get out to Erie Canal the next few weeks do it. It looks amazing right now.

I just started repairing cloth focal plane shutter cameras, and there really is a 'Rube Goldberg' series of events needed for successful completion of the exposure. One little lever or axle that has old oil or grease or dirt can become stiff in cold weather and the exposure sequence is faulty or it can lock up.

What do you charge to repair focal plane shutters and their mechanisms? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to repair my Speed Graphic or just use the lens shutter.

I've sunk so much money into my Crown Graphic already. I can't get the darn tootn' Kalart to stay true.

I was just down in Fort Wayne last week to watch my grandaughter play basketball. She has a full ride scholarship to Indiana Tech to play basketball.
My first time there but not my last as she's a sophomore. Nice city from what I have seen in my few hours there.

Moved five years ago from Florida to Kalamazoo, MI. Have found one photo group in the area, though they may be mostly digital.
Have created a darkroom space, and am working on a small studio space in the basement. Would be interested in photo group meetings.

At the current exchange rate in MI that equals about 30 weeks.
Over here on Anchor Bay we got about 3 inches of snow today and as usual the collision shops should post record profits again.
