Hi Folks,

I live in fond du lac. Is anyone close by? If so, it might be fun to get together and do some shooting. (I'm going to try to make it to the Milwaukee Art Museum meeting, as per the othe thread.) I've got various medium and large format cameras that we could use, including a couple of 8x10s, a Kodak D2, and a Sinar P. I also have a couple of 8x10 enlargers, if anyone ever needs to print from that size negative. Furthermore, I have some spare enlargers if someone needs to borrow one. First, there's a 6x7 Philips PCS2000, and there's also a De Vere 504.

Nowhere nearby myself, but I know a LF photographer in Baraboo.

ah, Baraboo! What a nifty town! Love Devils Lake and The Circus World Museum.

Hey Peter!
I'm in Merton (just north of Hartland & northwest of Waukesha). It's not ultra-close, but it's closer than Baraboo! haha :D

I think Fon Du Lac is about an hour and a half for me. Let me verify the milage at mapquest quick. 100 miles, that sounds about right then.

Peter,

I work in Milwaukee, but I live about 1 1/2 hours from Fond du lac. That's not really that close by. Thats really great of you to offer your enlargers! What camera will you be shooting on for the Museum outing?

And, instead of borrowing a spare enlarger, how about letting me borrow an 8x10 camera someday. I really want to try that format someday.

Sure, no problem. I'd be happy to let you use the Kodak D2. It even has a front tilt adaptor. (Most D2s don't have front tilt.) I've got plenty of film holders, tripods, lenses...

I planned on bringing my two Fuji rangefinders, but if someone wants, I can bring something else. Toho FC45x, Sinar P (4x5 and/or 8x10), Kodak D2 8x10, Rollei TLR.

I've got A Fuji Gs645 that I love.

I will probably bring my Gowland 4x5 to the museum along with the fuji. If I can go that is. Have to ask the wife still. And if Bush wins I'll be in mourning.

Best,

William

Hello Peter,
My studio is in Hilbert which isn't too far from Fondy. About 30 minutes away. I often shoot on Winnebago's eastern side and get to Fondy several times a year. It sounds like you have a boatload of equipment there.

The next time I head that way, I'll blast you a PM and maybe we can have a cup of coffee and share Wisconsin stories.

Scott

I'm only about 8 or 9 hours away..... I've decided long ago that I would be retiring in New Glarus... Home of the best beer in the world.

Hi Folks,

I must've missed a few of the recent posts here. Sorry about that. I'd love to get together and talk photography, or go out photographing, with anyone in the area.

Btw., I've finally got the 8x10 enlarger installed and functioning.

I was just wondering if there were going to be anymore Wisconsin get-togethers.

Lovely weather we've been having and all.... Snow this week I think.

Thanks,

Will

Have any of you ever photographed the Holy Hill Shrine near Milwaukee? I plan on doing so sometime this winter.

Lemme know if you ever move closer to Italy?! I could use a friend like you. :D

Holy Hill is only like a couple miles north of my house. I think that would be a great photo trip! We could probably even all meet here or possibly at Hwy 83 & I-94 (Except those north of us, who'd probably want to meet at Holy Hill).

You should post this in the Wisconsin Region forum, Mike! We could try to pick out a few possible dates for it!

Since we missed all of the leaves, we should probably wait until there's snow on the ground. Which, from the way it sounds at the moment, could be tomorrow.

There's snow on the ground here! (Not much though...)

Same here! And it's snowing & blowing like it thinks it should! :D haha

From the vantage point where leaves and the Church coincide in the composition the whole structure is about the size of a dime on an 8x10 negative shot with my 500 tele! The outside is really hard to shoot. My buddy and I usually do interiors in the church and the small chapel..Evan Clarke

Do they mind tripods and view cameras in the church?

We have never had a problem. I have had my 8x10 and 4x5 inside many times. One must always be sensitive to worshipers and choose the right time. Sunday during mass does not work but the place is frequently empty...Evan
