I figured I'd put my insomnia to work. Headed up to St. Louis for a day or two, and thought I might try to squeeze in a store or three.

Creve Coeur Camera, last time I was in there, only carried a few basics, and Holgas. The employee let me into the back briefly to show me the tiny refrigerated film stash.
Schiller's is larger, and probably more along the lines of what you seek, and more "professional" oriented, though their section of film/analog supplies is somewhat bigger.

Good Morning, Ambaker,

I agree with the post above. Crevecoeur Camera has several locations in the St. Louis area, including at least two on the Illinois side of the river. Both Shiller's and CCC, however, are vastly more limited in their selection of available film and darkroom supplies than they were some years ago. Basic 35mm stuff shouldn't be any problem; some 120 is probably on the shelf; sheet film might or might not be available except on special order.

I live 5 minutes away from Shiller's and rarely go up there anymore. They are pretty much all digital now. I have bought medium format and 35mm film there but they only keep a small supply and may not have what you are looking for. You have to choose from what they have at the time. I buy all my film online now. They also have a lab and can develop medium format and 35mm film and even scan your negatives to a disc. I have not bought any chemicals from them. I buy my supplies from Freestyle so I don't know what they have available. As far as cameras go they do sell used 35mm and medium format cameras. They will have little to nothing in medium format.

If you talk to a salesmen they will try to sell you a digital camera. I shoot large format and one of the salesmen told me that was too difficult and I needed to forget that and upgrade my D300 to a D800. They also told my buddy that he should sell his Hasselblad Xpan and learn to stitch digital images.

Creve Coeur Camera is about the same.

I've posted a few times about Creve Coeur Camera, although I frequent their Springfield, IL store, not their St. Louis one. They're happy to have a film camera sent up from St. Louis, and their lab services are good quality and reasonably priced (okay they don't do $2 C-41 dev only, but you'll pay more for 35mm C-41 at wally world and only get prints and a CD back!) Their lab didn't bat an eye when I sent some Rollei IR400s through, and they had no problems with polyester based E6 as well. No problems with push/pull processing or return of my 620 spools, either.

They carry some slide film, a couple Ilford film emulsions, both in 35mm and 120. Small selection of Ilford papers, and some B&W chemistry and darkroom stuff (no enlargers, but they do have the stuff to develop 35mm and 120). They even have a lightbox or two at their counter, and a couple loupes for looking at negatives and slides. No Portra 800 but they do carry 400 and I think Portra 160.

I took in some 35mm C41 that my daughter had shot, and they were like "Whoa, normal film from you!" (I'm usually the E6 or B&W guy, not the color print guy).

If you're already in St. Louis, go ahead and check them out. They've got some used film cameras at the main store in St. Louis, I believe.

Oh, and +1 on the City Museum. It's awesome.

I was at the main Creve Coeur Camera store about a year ago. They had a bunch of used 35mm cameras, an RB67 and a Hasselblad and no large format cameras from what I remember. Of course this changes depending upon what they take in and what they sell.

I made it to Shiller's. The person who greeted me knew right where the darkroom supplies are. No used cameras for sale, but plenty on display.

The person who waited on me was very enthusiastic about B&W film. The only thing he dissed was cell phones. Says the get a lot of cell phone users who cannot understand why the 8x10 does not look as sharp as it did on their cell phone screen,

Not an analog haven, but seem to support Ilford chems, film, and paper quite well.

Kodak, not so much...
