Anyone in Southern California?

Is anyone interested in getting together and shooting? I've been trying to convince the guy who runs a group called Beers & Cameras down in SD to start up an Orange County group. There's an LA chapter but their meetings are too far for me during the week when I go back to Anaheim. If there's enough interest here, we should get together and organize a shoot outside of B&C. However, it is my goal with the help of The Darkroom in San Clemente to bring B&C to Orange County.

B&C in OC would be awesome. Still haven't been able to go to either SD or LA though, because they are always on weekdays. And I was out of town for the big event they had at The Darkroom on a Saturday. Don't know how The Darkroom feels about it, or the legality of this, but if there are no nearby breweries or tap houses I think many would be open to a BYOB B&C.

Haha, I'm not sure. It would be neat to have an event at The Darkroom where it's BYOB but I would imagine he'd be cautious about having anyone anywhere near the developing lab. I'd imagine we might be able to do it next door, away from all of that

For sure! I've never been there so not sure what there is around there. Was thinking something more like a parking lot meetup, but definitely not around any nice equipment. What's next door?

For a Beers and Cameras OC, Fullerton might be a good north-central-ish location. We have an Amtrak/Metrolink station downtown within easy walking distance to several possible venues, including Old Spaghetti Factory, Heroes, and our local microbrewery, Bootleggers.

EDIT: I should also mention that we have a local camera shop that has both new and used gear, and a well-stocked rental department. It's about 3/4 mile from the station.

Beers and Cameras are doing more meets in Long Beach. This might be better for the Orange County folks

Easiest way to find out is to follow both the Instagram and Facebook pages of B&C. They hold events regularly and there's now an LA chapter that tries to do something weekly. While I really enjoy the people I've met at the B&C events and I enjoy chatting about cameras, I really prefer getting out to shoot. I'm terrible at finding new places to shoot so I was hoping this group would help me get out more.

I've been to a handful of their events and made some great friends out of it but am really itching to just tag along with some people to just shoot more!

It's more about the photography and the majority of these folks are shooting film. You have a handful of people that come in with their digital stuff as well but its about gathering like-minded people to talk about cameras whether film or digital. I've had tons of great conversations with people I've met there as I started my journey with medium format just this year and I've made some great friends as well.

Hope to see you there sometime! I typically only go when I know they're doing a photo walk but they usually meet on a weekly basis (at least, the San Diego group does). I was interested in building their Orange County presence but things got busy and I haven't been able to attend as many. Still, though, always meet some nice people and I always get to pick someone's brain about something!

Thanks for the meet up info, I will look in to this , sounds cool. Looks like the meet up time is 6:00pm to 9:00pm.Yamanote, if they do start a meet in Orange Co. or Fullerton please post here, now that I have there site it is easier to keep track of locations.

Ditto. I looked in vain at meetup.com, nothing for film (analogue) people. I am in NE LA, so USC, central city, Pasadena are all close by. Anyone wanna set a time or place?
