Mods, if there is a better place for this post feel free to move it.

A bit of the content I have seen elsewhere but much of it is new to me, and about photographers I have yet to discover. If anyone has firsthand experience I'd be grateful for a review.

This looks interesting. I did not do an extensive search to see if any of the content was exclusive to The Darkroom Rumour.I also couldn't figure out what the cost was after a 7-day free trial.

I subscribed a year or so ago, they have some interesting content. In-depth stories about a lot of well known and not so well known artists.
I just saw a great video about Elliot Erwitt.
Cost has been $10 per month after the free trial. I recently went on a subscription-killing spree and was going to cancel this one, but they made me an offer of only $4.99 / mo. if I would stay. That's definitely worth it.

Outside of Photrio, it looks like one of the more interesting things on the internet. I'm starting the trial.

I thought about it, but I just don't think they have a large enough catalog of films to justify another subscription taking more $$$ every months. I have too much already...

justify another subscription

Unfortunately, that is becoming the model more and more. The internet is replacing cable in an increasingly expensive way - especially if you have kids. All the major networks have their own streaming services, now (CBC is free, though (for how long, though)).

Eventually, there will be so many of them, they'll all need to move to an advertising-supported model.

I may subscribe to the Darkroom one, though, since it's so focused and probably has a number of things I'd want to watch. I doubt I'd be a long-term subscriber, though.

I agree. the problem is that each is pretty cheap — "Only 10$ per month!!!"—that you forget that they actually add up, especially since payments are automatic (what a curse!). I'm in the process of slimming down — too many Netflix, Tidal, Spotify, Apple whatever, Microsoft, Prime, Criterion Channel, etc., that take money out of my pocket every month, and that I'm not using enough, if at all.

I like the idea behind The Darkroom Rumour, but I'll wait another 6 months to a year to see if they build up a library that's worth my 10$ a month.

I'm leaning that way too, if only for a few months. It looks like they've put together a quality product but time will tell if they can keep the content coming and make the spend over time worth it.

Thanks for the insights everyone.
