So I have a Canon sure shot A-1 that i use when on/in the ocean, but the camera does not allow for manual iso selection. As long as the film cartridge I'm using is DX coded and I'm ok shooting box speed, all's well. I've tried using DX stickers from eBay with non coded films with no luck (camera behaves as if the film is still not coded). Are there stickers that work well? Has anyone used the freestyle ones, for example?

Thanks,

I’ve made some with foil and tape, but I have some mad skills with an X-Acto knife.

I wanted to code TMY-2 at 250 and the scheme worked very well. I got some very nice pictures that summer.

The camera was a Samurai half frame. A fun camera that does half frame in a horizontal orientation.

I took the DIY road, works fine with my Canon AS-1, the european equivalent to your Sure Shot.

I needed to do such thing only a couple of times. What I did was this: I scratched off the black paint in some areas (to ensure contact where necessary) and put a cut-out of duct tape in other areas (where contact isn't necessary). Worked like a charm.

That's good to know. Looks like DIY is what works for most folks... I'll have to give that a try.

Thanks, all!

In these cases I scratch the paint off with an x-acto from the can and cover other parts of it with pieces of thin adhesive tape to get the conductive pattern for a specific ISO on the can.
You can get the DX codes from here (PDF down the page):

I tried without luck but didn't care because, I mostly use manual cameras and hand-held meters.
Thanks,
