Ok, this should be my last MXT question!
I want to add a registered neg carrier to my MXT, but don't want to spring the five hundred bucks for one. Not yet, anyway.
So I'd like to get the neg stage off, which seems connected to the lens stage by the bellows. Anyone done a bellows replacement or similar? Looking at the enlarger and how the stages are joined to the focusing plate, seems like:
Remove the springs;
Several screws hold the stages to metal parts that form a sandwich with the focus rail, the teflon bearings, and the small metal plates - looks like that stuff will all just fall apart when the screws come out;
Some of the screws seem to have adjustments - like a nut, with a screw sticking out. I assume this is to control the straightness and the tension of the sliding parts? But also looks like these don't hold the stages to the rail and can be left alone?
So get the lens stage off, and it will be hanging by the bellows - which seem glued on vs. the clip-on style of some Beselers... so, support that stage somehow until you get the neg stage loose as well?
And then if I want to do any drilling or attaching things to the neg stage, do I find some way to compress the bellows so it's all one unit? Or do I have to peel off the bellows? Or do they come off easily? Or are they easily trashed?
And is re-assembly straightforward, or do those tiny adjustment screws take some work?
Here's a pic from the REAR of the enlarger, and THANKS for any advice!!
