It might refer to the soviet T-for-tank designation in general.

Anyway, I only learned about the "tank" designation from the internet. It may be a internet story that blew up a local term into a standard designation.

Oh, I know the battery is there -- I was being whimsical about it being a myth because I've read so few reports of anyone having to replace it!
Replacement Lithium battery to power the T90 display is a CR 1220 or BR 1225 https://www.amazon.com/Energizer-12...=UTF8&qid=1466119684&sr=1-2&keywords=cr+1220+, I have had my T90 for almost 25 years and the battery is still O.K. and Canon originally said it needed replacing every five years, if mine packs up I'll buy one from Amazon they're cheap enough, and have my camera tech replace it for me.

At one time or another I have had,and used, all of canon's fd Cameras. The T90 is my favourite.I have bought 4 of them on ebay and 2 worked properly,2 didn't.The ones that didn't were sold by people who "couldn't"test them. The ones that did work I still use.If I have to let them sitting for more than 4 weeks I load batteries and shoot several frames and everything is good.It was,and still is,a great camera and best bought from someone that has enough know how to put batteries in it and fire the shutter.Combine it with the 300tl flash, any of the fine fd lenses and you will need nothing more to make first class images.A stand alone camera,in my opinion.

... a fault "somewhere" - BINGO! evertbody said I had a stickey shuuter. Opened up the camera... the shutter looked like new. the camera fires like a machine gun... until I put the film back in. EEEE. it appears the film fed properly, but now I'm not sure what is happening.
