I'm not sure if there's much of a call for this, for I for one send out my 'toy camera' pictures as part of general print exchanges all ready.

But, if it looks like there's enough interest I'd join in.

I'd be up for it. I don't have anything new right now but there are a couple pieces that haven't seen the light of day yet.

I'd be up for this again! You're right - it has been a while since this was done, and the last attempt at a revival seemed to have fizzled out.

I have no idea what's up with the Diana holga, and pinhole people. It seem a cult thing of some kind. Buying a cheap plastic piece of junk having lght leaks as it's marketing strategy. And pinhole being a foxhole contrivance when the soldier stumbled across the enemy battle plan and had nothing but a paper clip and roll of toilet paper to win the war with. If you want to "get back to basics" get a Brownie 620 and use your best skills. Not interested. Sorry.

Yeah, I like to remind myself of what's possible with the little piece of plastic - re-looking at various photographers gives me inspiration, even if I can't execute images as well as they do.

Jersey Vic is one of the formerly active posters I miss (I have a long list of them...). His work was always a treat to see.
Another former poster with Holga work worth seeing is jbridges.

Yes, box and pinhole would be fine. Similar quirks to Holga quirks. Let me do some research on setting up / running an exchange.

OK Folks, let’s do this.

As I see it, we have two options. First is where you send me a print and mailing information. I will collect the prints, then create a circuit where the prints are sent to each participant. When it comes back to me, I will return the prints. If we do this, it will be for North American folks only, no Europe, Asia, or South America. Second is where you send me your mailing info, then I will pair them off, and we can send a print to one person on the list. We give up a print, but we get somebody else’s print.

Which do you prefer? Or is there another option?

Let me know who’s in, and we’ll proceed.

I would prefer option #2. A simple print exchange.

Do we have any criteria for the prints such as printing method or size? My only option right now is a machine print so I just wouldn't want someone to be disappointed that they spent a few hours on a nice FB print but they received my Fuji CA print. Or do we just say you get what you get and we're going to be happy with whatever type and size of print we receive?

I too prefer option 2 (so I can participate!). I know in other exchanges often the final output is not as important as the initial capture (analog) but I'm open to anything. Same with print size - with toy cameras I doubt anyone is expecting an 11x14 print, and even then, that would be a large size to expect others to send through the mail. Again, I'm open to any print size - from small contact prints to whatever enlargement the other person tries to do. For example, the only way I could make a print from my 6x12 or 6x18 pinhole cameras is by contact printing, since my enlarger can't handle anything more than 6x7. That said, if the rule of the exchange is to send at least a 5x7 print or larger, then I can work with that too. I certainly don't expect the same size and output as to what I'm doing - what I like about these exchanges is seeing what others do with their images.

The only stipulation that I would suggest is, that ANY size can be used UP TO a MAXIMUM of 10" x 8" (or whatever that is in cms?) This is a good size for board backed envelopes, fits through most letterboxes and 'albums' etc are readily available to take this size (usually an A4 album, which I believe is slightly bigger).

I have in the past received small contacts and even Polaroids. As Rachelle says, it's more about the receiving of others prints and 'seeing what others do with their images.'

Oh and of course, it would be good to be international = allows more people to join if they want to, which includes myself.

If I am going in ... it would be option 2. I don't like to bring that ol' horse up again, but I would also prefer it to be an analog print exchange. Size is less of a concern, since people have to pay their stamps for themselves. I am fine with small prints - love contact prints.
