I recently aquired a nice "new" Kodak Jiffy six-20. Barring filing/trimming 120 rolls, does anybody have a few 620 spools that they would not mind parting with? Send me a PM and we can work it out.
Thnks

They are for sale with film at B&H ! Buy 10 and do your own 'respooling' & you're safe for the rest of your life with every 620 you will meet

Thanks for the suggestion - if need be I'll go that route, though I would rather not spend $12/roll for B&W film.

There is E-bay, flea markets, old camera shops, and tag sales. You might be able to buy an old 620 camera on ebay for less than you would pay for a spool, and then you would have two cameras.

Also a very good suggestion, but my intention of posting here was to try and avoid a lot of "goose chasing" as you might call it. An besides - I am WAY past two camers

Oh man, that 'respooling' is a trick in total darkness I wouldn't miss it for $12 ! ( well you need two; so that's $24 & double the fun)

Respooling isn't a big deal at all. If you can roll MF film onto a spool for processing, you can wind 120 onto a 620 spool just as fast. I'd rather respool film than pay someone to hack up my Medalist II to accept 120 spools. Where in NJ are you?

Check Blue Moon. (APUG advertiser) Last time I checked, they had over a dozen kinds of 620, and
their prices were great( I think 4-something for acros)

Crazy question perhaps but can I use 620 rolls in a 120 camera or is it best to respool 620 film onto 120 rolls? Crazy you say but there seems to be a lot more cheap Verichrome Pan on 620 rolls than 120.

If that works I can send you the 620 spools!

No. The slot in a 620 spool is smaller than 120. Also, buying new 62o film is not the same as having old spools as new 620s have thin plastic walls and are not nearly as durable as the original metal. You can re-spool with them for a while, but the edges begin to flex and leak light. Better to buy old 620s (worth about $5 each) or trim 120s with the nail clipper and plug the ends with plastic sheetrock anchors.

I'm new to the 620 format but I think that going 620 into 120 should be easy - the 620 spool is something like 1/32 shorter, the core is a little thinner and the ends are smaller in diameter, and as far as I know the slots in the end are similar enough - should be easy money going that direction. The Internets (sic) are telling me that 120 to 620 may occasionally work, it depends on how the engineers designed the film chamber.

I'm with you on the Re-spool, Dan..I'm in Berekely Heights, you? Incidentally, do you know of any groups that get together in this great state of ours?

I actually picked up some really old cameras from my local store - $5 each, and removed those 620 spools.
From there I put em up on Ebay, starting price was .99c for each - most sold for around $20-$25 and one hit $45!!

I was happy - got the spools at a fair price and made some extra $$ on the side.

That would be another option for me of course, pick up an old 620 camera. There are some for $20-40 and a few real collectors items that I'll be steering clear of
