I have a lens I want to have a "play" with before I move it along in the near future. Need a 1934 - ish Contax 1. Anyone?

I'm pretty sure any Contax rangefinder will do. Soviet knockoff Kiev 1-2-4 will also do, unless you specifically wish to test that Contax from 1934.

First models of Contax are for collectors, not users. As M88 noted, any later model Contax or Kiev will do.

Unless you have a prewar biogon. They don't fit the post war Contaxes, AFAIK. But the Kiew is based on the prewar models, so it should work.

Thanks all. I'm not a Contax guy, obviously, but the lens that I fell into is a 1934 fernobjectiv 50cm f8 with the flektoskop viewer. Not a collector and not my thing, but I'd like to have a play before I send it along where it likely will grace someone's collection.

Would the Kiev 4's permanently attached light meter interfere with this lens/viewer combo?

( as seen on Chris Sherlock's Retina Rescue page...) https://retinarescue.com/kiev4.html
I wouldnt think so, but there were many kiev's without lightmener. The Kiev 4 was with meter, the Kiev 4A was without a light meter

You will find a Flektoscop very awkward to work with, but the up side is that your lens-reflex combo is much coveted by Contax collectors. Good luck with your find.
