It may be too hot for 35mm slides. Unless you have a desire to see them melt and then burn.

hope

The two posters above are probably correct but hope springs eternal. What if there was a way to make it work? It is a lot cooler looking than my olde Kodak slide projector.

What you're looking for is a Minolta mini projector. Guaranteed to work.

What's wrong with an ordinary slide projector? Too big for you?

The last time I scanned Ebay, the high-quality Kodak Ektar slide projects were selling at less than $50. And the absolute BEST way to project a slide is with a slide projector!

No, but I don't want to leave one plugged in in my toddler's bedroom all night. How long do you think a slide would last running for hours at a time? How long would that hot bulb last running all night? Are normal slide projector's completely silent?
That added to the fact that I don't already own one.

Either option will make a very bright nightlight.

LEDs are apparently a lot cooler than incandescent bulbs. Sacrificing a slide would be worth the peace of mind you'd get from finding out there's no risk of melting or other heat related issues. http://www.cnet.com/news/five-things-you-didnt-know-about-led-lightbulbs/

Correct. I use Led sources all the time for work as they have the advantage of running off battery packs for long periods and are very compact. I wouldn't be projecting once in a lifetime slides here.
