Any wireless remote controls for cable release threads?

I've seen many wireless remote controls for analog and digital cameras that use contacts for electrical cable releases, but never any that you can use on shutter release buttons and shutters with threads. Aren't there any? It would have been a nice accessory to reduce vibrations and to use instead of the selftimer sometimes.

There were solenoid flash synchronizers for Graphics and other press cameras at one time, and Linhof had some kind of more modern solenoid arrangement, maybe in the 1970s, that I've never seen in person.

I have used pneumatic/air releases. This one is 33 feet long. There are others that are shorter (20 feet) and cost a little less. Here's a link:

Yes, I have a pneumatic release too. It's wireless, but not tubeless.

Some mobile phones, like Apple's iPhone in active WiFi mode, can interfere with wireless networks in close proximity; certainly, the "I want one too!" iPad (I also want one!! ) has been singled out in various tech. reports as having the somewhat oddball behaviour of blocking all other radio signals so it alone can connect. I would recommend the pneumatic releases or ordinary cable releases (screw-thread or electronic plug-in types) and the camera's self timer (10 seconds for lots of cameras, variable delay for many other electronic types, also with mirror lock-up) over wireless any day.

the pneumatic releases don't coil/uncoil very well in cold weather. It can also be hard to tell if you've squeezed the bulb enough to trip the shutter (if around moving water, traffic, or wind). My copal shutters don't have self-timers. I want a wireless system for a couple reasons but one of them requires self portraits where I don't want to have any cables hanging in the image.

A neat solution would be a solenoid that could be activated via pocket wizards (ie a closed contact signal from a minijack cable) - that would give the benefit of the ridiculously good range/signal reliability of the pocket wizards. Thinking about this will occupy my brain for the rest of the day. Thank you

Some years ago I found a rf release on ebay. Made in Japan, Prinz I believe was the brand - definitely from the seventies. The solenoid/receiver is about the size of pack of cigarettes with a telescoping antenna and the transmitter, slightly larger than a bic lighter, has a simple on/off switch and a four foot telescoping antenna. It actually works quite well as I can trigger it from at least 100'. I sometimes use this rigged to a sinar 5x7. Neat stuff, but not as reliable as an air release like those posted above.

this is cool and I think it'll be adaptable to fire a solenoid I'm looking at. I'm going to consult an electronics wizard I know and get something put together.
