Any tips on adhesives?

Hi,

We have been using a silver gelatin emulsion (by Foma, I think) for a while now, mostly on wood, ceramics and some types of fabic. For this, we add an extra layer of gelatin between the material and the emulsion for better cohesion.

At the moment, we're experimenting with various materials that seem to be a bit trickier. So we are looking for different ways to make the emulsion adhere. Are there other options/or any tips?

Some of our issues are:
- The material is very flexibel, even during the drying process
- It will be a "one day print" for an exhibition, so we want to be able to wash off the print at the end of the day
- Due to the size of the material it's impossible to soak it in the developer, so we use a small brush to apply the chemicals during developing

Sponge works better floor sponge on stick allows bigger prints...

PVA. Basically inert and slightly water soluble so removable with water.

-) why wash it off and not discard all?

-) must the base material be virgin again? (Without "adhesive" layer [which we call "subbing" layer.]?)

one of the bottled emulsion makers used to suggest urethane ...
i've used it the down side is that it yellows over time ..

It's a process I've been meaning to try & haven't got round to yet.

We want the material to be re-usable, and without the subbing layer.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think we'll have some testing to do, but will let you when we get some results.
