Any Suggestions for 4x10 Negative Storage?

I'd appreciate any tips on storing options for 4x10 negatives.

I to shoot 4x10. For temporary storage, I store my 4x10 negs in glassine sleeves I make myself by joining two 4x5 sleeves together. I use a razor blade to slit the bottom open of one of the 4x5 sleeves and and then slide the open ended sleeve INTO (not over) the other sleeve. I then tape them together.

For permanent storage I modify a three-ring binder photo page that has 4-4x5 sleeves. I slit the bottom of the top sleeves open using a very sharp pair of scissors and then slide the 4x10 neg through the top sleeve in to the bottom sleeve. The 4x10 is not covered at he point where comes out of the bottom of the top sleeve and into the top of the bottom sleeve. I have never had the 1/4" exposed part of any 4x10 neg damaged.

I have found an option for 5x12 negatives at a place called Archiver's (a scrapbooking store). They have some archival plastic pages that can hold two 5x12 negatives and have a flap at the top to cover the open end of the page. I have not been able to find this item online however. The last time I looked at their website, it was not very user friendly and it didn't seem to have a listing of their products where this specific item could be ordered online. I stumbled across it accidentally when I went to the store to see what it was.

Light Impressions sells some polyprophylene sleeves that will hold two 4x10 negatives. I don't know if the polyprophylene will harm the negatives. I bought a 4x10 camera several years ago and it came with several packs of these plastic holders. I have been storing mine in them with no ill effects yet. The product no. is 9690.

I have never heard of polyprophylene. So, I just took a peek at the sleeves on Light Impressions and they are made of polypropylene which is safe for both film and paper. I am very excited about this. Thanks harleyman7.

When I was shooting 4x10 I used a standard 8x10 PrintFile sleeve and 'cut' it down to size with one of those kitchen baggie heat sealers. Worked great!

I use the polypropylene sheet protectors sold at office supply stores for three ring binders. They will hold an 8.5 x11 sheet, so they are far larger than a 4x10 negative. I also store my 8x10 negatives in the same sheet protectors. They're very inexpensive if you buy store brand.

4x10 sleeves

I have also been looking for sleeves for 4x10 negatives. I was at the local camera store and asked if they had any. I ended up with for 4x11 1/2" sleeves for APS panoramic prints. They were archival and best of all were being closed out. I bought the last 3 packages they had.
