I just picked up a nice one for $20. I can't believe it has a top shutter speed of 1/8000th sec! I'm also liking the focus assist for manual lenses, and the fact it accepts different focusing screens. Any gotchas to look out for?

Mine has been trouble free. Never found a reason to use the higher shutter speeds.

I still have the 2 that I used back in the 90's. Took thousands upon thousands of photos. Never had a failure. The autofocus is slow compared to the F100 and it slows down even more as the batteries get weak. The Matrix metering is very good. I thought about selling mine but the going rate is stupid low, I'll keep mine.

In the '90's, the photo lab and studio I worked in used one for studio portraits, copy work, slide duping, title slides, etc.
We must have put 100,000+ rolls through it, and it was still going strong when I left.

Wow. That’s impressive.

I was given one that was not working. I found that part of the plastic in the battery holder had broken. Some of the areas are thin. I was able to glue the parts back into position, and the camera now works. So, my caution would be to be careful replacing the batteries. Everything else on the camera seems robust.

Is there a way to turn off the light panel on top of the prism, which glows when the shutter is depressed for metering? I pressed the illumination button on the camera back, but nothing happened.

The button only works to turn it on.
