When just going about I usually carry a small camera in my pocket or in my Billingham bag which is stuffed with books and other stuff besides a camera and sometimes an additional lens. When more dedicated to picture taking or traveling by plane or car with my Leicas or Leicaflexes I find Walter Benser’s cases made by Leitz very handy. Made of high quality rigid leather with a wide selection of inserts, cameras, lenses, etc are well protected while being efficiently organized for quick and easy access. Very well thought out dimensions and fitted inserts.
Also, in today’s world where everyone is schlepping some kind of bag, the Leitz Benser bag goes unnoticed (Hermès catches the bad guys eyes). I’ve had my bags for over 50 yrs and they still look great. Being paranoid in the old days, I used to cover the Leitz name, but who recognizes it now?
Anybody else like to use these bags?

To my understanding of that period what made the Benser cases unique was the modular concept based on those insert containments.

I use rigid leather cases, with fixed inserts, only for the show, to have a period case. Otherwisse I prefer padded textile-bags.
