Any info on this lens?

I got a lens off Ebay for $63 bucks. It was mentioned he thought it was around 200mm, but the lens had no markings on it to tell for sure. He said: The lens is mounted in a Keystone Flashmeter made by Ilex Optical with speeds from 1 s to 1/100 s and f stops from 4.4 to 64.

So does anyone know anything about this lens or recognize it?

Not sure of the use or the function of the shutter and stop but I'd wildly guess to photograph or print off sides.

Ed, I'm not sure that it is a projection lens. It is reminiscent of an unmarked lens in Ilex #3 electric shutter that I extracted from a Coleman Systems oscilloscope camera. And yes, I can see that the original poster's mystery lens is in an Ilex Acme, not an Ilex electric.

All that said, it smells of an opportunistic remount of a no-name lens, perhaps from a 'scope camera, in an Ilex shutter extracted from equipment. Probably not a good lens, but the shutter has value and until the lens has been tried out we can all hope that its good enough.

Thanks for the replies. The seller claimed it was a sharp lens and as you can see it was mounted in a Graflex board- so he did use it for 4x5 work. I was hoping this lens may be usable for portraits. I already have an Ektar 127mm for wider work. He did say the coverage of the lens is definately fine for 4x5 work. I hope this was a good deal. The 203 Ektar I was bidding on went above my limit at this time. Well at least I can reuse the lens board if the lens turns out to be junk.

This sounds like a lens/shutter combination from an old Tachistoscope. It was used to project letters, words or phrases for specific short periods of time to assist students in building speed in word and phrase recognition thus increasing reading speed and comprehension.

Here is a photo taken with this lens at f4.4 and 1/25th. Its not sharp due to blur, but some have wondered what kind of pictoral results the lens would give.
