This is one of my favorite all-time films. If you want to see how forgiving it, look in my gallery and look at the night photos. They are all 35mm Plus-X developed in Rodinal. I think this is a great developer for the film.
"Any good?" Yes! I have thousands of negs shot on Plus-X. Probably about 25/75% between med format and 35mm. Almost always devved in D76 1:1. Fine grained, looks good for skin and landscape the way I see it. Does not do well if over-developed much at all, as highlights will blow. Keep that in mind and give it a try.
Plus X is a wonderful unique emulsion- the closest thing to the late lamented Verichrome Pan. It is slightly more blue sensitive than average and benefits from use of a yellow filter.
Actually PX in sheet films was quite different from the roll film. Both were great and I'll miss the sheet version. I would advise anyone beginning photography in 35mm to start with PXP and D76 1:0. It is very forgiving and easily responds to most of the "Zone" controls. If anyone is interested in how I handled the Zone system with this material is invited to pm me. It's fun!
Thanks for all your comments / input.
I'll hunt down some of the stuff and give it a go. I've been using too much FP4+ lately and feel I need to try something different.
