I was cleaning out a relative's home this weekend and stumbled onto a set of Exacta 7X32, rubberized roof prism binoculars, dust covered and dirty from sitting out in a store room for years. They cleaned up just fine and I was surprised at how legitimate they were in performance. I actually gave them to him many years back as a Christmas gift and had kind of forgotten about them. In snooping around the net just now, I could find almost nothing regarding this sort of Exacta product. One site in the UK had some new Exacta 10X25 compacts that looked cheap and were priced that way. They looked exactly like some cheap Barska compacts that I bought an 8 year old nephew for his birthday last year. They also had a number of Praktica branded rigs, primarily at the lower end of their offerings.

Are they simply a marketing company now, re-badging commodity goods and using some name recognition from their past?
