I had a day off last Friday, I did not planned to take any photos - so only XA2 was in my bag (always there - just in case). I was thinking in the morning - maybe to take F801s that I bought last weekend, with 105mm and make some portraits in the city center, but I decided not - probably it will be nothing to photograph. And then in the main square next to city hall - XA2 was pretty busy . And many frames are underexposed, and not complete in focus. But I am glad that I had any camera with me .

Thanks Pioneer , actually I think I will swap my XA2 to Leica III with elmar 5cm as "just in case camera". It is little bigger and heavier, but full manual control, and 5cm instead 35mm lens fits me better.

Same reason I always keep my mjuII nearby. Out of all my cameras, it's probably my least favorite to shoot with, but it's just so small and light that I can always have it by my side. For that reason, most of my favorite shots have been taken with it despite it being my least favorite out of my collection.

I have started using my Canon Sure Shot (80 Tele) in the last few years, again. I am GLAD i kept it.
I usually keep it stuffed with Color Negative.
If you are in its sweet spot of Distance and Light, it really takes a fine picture.
Man, it sure is nice to just point a camera at something, give it 3 seconds for the Auto Focus to do its thing, and then press the button. It winds itself, and it rewinds itself. You realize Why/How film has made a "Comeback" recently..... it's fun.
I can remember my family using cameras like this (of that time period) in the 60's and 70's. Nobody "worried" about any rules or exposure values. You took pictures of vacations and trips, without much thought about photography.
Sometimes there was a real bad one, but for the most part, whatever came back from the drug store was just fine.

Thanks Ned. That was from a trail run in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with my sister. She is the lone figure on the left with the summit of Mt. Chocorua in the background to the right. In keeping with my previous statement of this being one of my least favorite cameras, that was the only frame out of 12 of this scene that came out. The rest had flare or other issues. Alas, this was such a light and fast adventure I would never have had a different camera with me.

Same thing they say about a tripod.
A relatively inexpensive tripod that you have is better than the Super Gizmo $$$$ tripod in the hotel room, cuz it is too heavy to carry.

I need to resurect my old Nikon 35AF.
Maybe go look for an old Olympus compact.

I carry an Olympus Pen EEIII as a pocket carry. 72 frames on a roll of 36 and I'll never miss a shot.

I really like this post. I just bought my first 2 point and shoots this weekend for ten dollars at the dongmyo flea market in Seoul. I got a Nikon Rf, and a fujica dl100 autofocus. Both require tape to keep the battery door closed, but seeing as my main shooter is my nikon fe2 with a motor drive and 28-85mm zoom, I'm loving the portability.

My XA crapped out awhile ago. Now for "all cameras are good" camera I have Oly Trip 35.

My M4-2 is on service since March and I have no idea then I'll get it back. I really miss it, here is no substitute, even my M3 ELC doesn't count...

My go anywhere staple is my Olympus Mju I. I reach for it when I leave the house without one of my serious cameras. Yes I have had the odd duff shot but it usually delivers the goods. I much prefer it to its more sophisticated sibling the Mju ii. I have had far less shots mis-focussed and it is a very capable street shooter.

That is Constantly on my mind.
My wife asked me to drive her to the Gas Station/Store. It is only 3/4 of a mile down the road. She could not believe i had to go back inside, because i forgot a camera.
I HAD it, so there was no big deal.
If i Do Not take it, just ONE Time.....a Giant Cargo plane from Travis Air Force Base, will make an emergency landing on Hwy 12...I will have nothing, and some 9 year old kid with a cell phone will take a Pulitzer Prize Wining Picture.
