I usually stay away from the black Friday silliness, but I'm also fairly broke. Any news on sales on film coming up? I assume it's such a niche market, perhaps sales aren't really worth it anymore.

Black Friday sales are for the masses of sheeple pursuing their retail devotion to mass consumption. Film is a very uncommon niche. Not a chance that it enters into it at all.

You might end up with some stuff that will fit both film and digital, like bags, filters, tripods etc, maybe some SLR lenses that also fit old Canikons. But film itself, I doubt it...

Black Friday is also for those of limited financial means the ability to find their friends and family better gifts for the holiday, or improve their own quality of life when they otherwise could not.

It's hard to understand being poor if you never have been.

Been there, done that, and not only got the T-shirt, but also the baseball cap.

Anyway...

Like was stated, you might be able to find something that will work with both DSLR and SLR cameras, but with film being a niche item these days, I doubt there will be much, unless you can snag a closeout special from a local camera store. As for cyber monday, it's entirely possible you might find something online, but I doubt you will save a lot, unless again you happen to run across a closeout special.

For film in general, try haunting the college bookstores, especially those colleges that offer traditional photo classes. A couple years ago, I bought a bunch of HP5+ in bulk rolls for $20 for a 100 foot roll that had recently expired. I bought everything they had and even sold some to a few people here for my cost plus postage. I assume they were happy with it. I saved a few for myself and it's in my freezer.

Poor people I know don't buy gifts. Reality is what one considers poor to be.
