early brass lens from the French maker Jules Audouin, established in Paris in 1870; unusual black finish, Napoleon III style

comes with its original case, a Waterhouse Stops set (4 units, with leather case) and lens flange

diaphragm: it seems to be about f/8
f/stops: slot for Waterhouse Stops

symmetrical optical design (4 elements, 2 groups)
it is a convertible lens: if the the frontal element is unscrewed, the lens gives double focal length and increased coverage

good condition for its age, it keeps most of its original lacquer
glasses: clean and clear
there is no fungus, haze or separation
