Hello
Does anyone know where I can get some Kodak Anti Fog No.1 Tablets? I have been checking around on Photographers formulary, but they have 100 grams of powder for a steep price. Any advice would be quite helpful. Thank You.

B&H used to carry the Edwal anti fog agent. I don't know if they carry the Kodak. Why not get some benzotriazole from Artcraft Chemical? For little money, you can have enough anti fog stuff to last a very long time.

100 grams of benzotriazole is a huge supply of antifog!

Check with Artcraft, maybe they'll sell you 10 grams.

Hi zone v, welcome aboard APUG

I usually use 15ml of 2% benzotriazole per litre of print developer stock solution...100 grams would indeed be a huge supply for me!

I've heard it can be nasty for ones health to mix from dry ingredients, but don't quote me on that.

Doesn't anybody still sell it in 1% or 2% solutions? I'm still working on the 2 bottles of 2% benzotriazole solution I got from Zone VI about a decade ago, so I haven't had to look for a new bottle yet.

Calumet stocks Edwal Liquid Orthazite (1 or 2% benzotriazole solution, I forget which) for $18.95 a quart + shipping if you want the ease of premixed. Should last you quite a while. Mixing your own from powder sounds cheaper.

Thanks to all for your generous replies. I will look into your suggestions and try the stores you have recommended to me.

Happy Holidays to all!

Consider JD Photochem for BZT?

BZT is sold in the smallest size, as $6US. Claire's shop is outside of Montreal,Canada, however she mails from the US regularly.

No connection to the company other than a regular and satisfied customer. Mike at Artcraft is another fine supplier that I have been pleased to deal with.

Benzotriazole dissolves easily in warm water and in isopropyl alcohol. Mix it a well ventilated place and don't breathe any benzotriazole dust!

Benzotriazole - works great - cheap - easy to use.

I occasionally reduce fog in negatives with Potassium Ferricyanide after processing. Perhaps others with more expertise can say how this compares to benzotriazole in the developer.

I'm no expert but I believe pot ferri is bleach and will take the whole image down a little where the benzotiazole is a restrainer that reduces the activity of the developer which shows up first at base fog levels - and if it is stronger, it will reduce the shadows as well.

You're correct fhovie, benzotriazole is an organic restrainer that reduces the activity of the developer.

Potassium Ferricyanide is a silver bleaching reagent.
