Hello,
I'll copy this over to email as well, but just wanted to register my interest here. I tried to get an idea of postage to Australia via the UPS website and came up with $286.32!

I can't help feeling that I've made a mistake somewhere

If the shipping is a great deal less ghastly than that, I would really like to buy these books from you.

I have the exact same set, including grey dustcovers, purchased in 1980, sitting on a shelf in my darkroom today. It's a marvelous reference that I still refer to when needed. Well worth the money.

Thank you for your emails and the trouble you've gone to, Mr. Voyager. I'll have to bow out while I have a bit more of a think about this. Frighteningly, even with postage, it still works out cheaper to buy from overseas! I'm sure someone else will jump at such a fantastic offer and I'll seriously regret my hesitation....

Hmmm, regret has already kicked in. Would you be so kind as to send me a PayPal invoice and I shall beam you the money forthwith :-D

I shipped a set to China or some odd place like that for easily under $40 (USPS).

USA to China = 7,233 miles.
USA to Australia = 9,429 miles.

Unfortunately those last 2,196 miles make all the difference!

But it is all downhill!

Ah, but therein lies the danger. It's an awfully long swim and, by the time one gets far enough south, exhaustion has kicked in and one is all too likely to overshoot the mark (or float by in a coma, rather) and wind up in Antarctica.
