Ansco Automatic Reflex lens issue

Acquired this beast of a camera...works perfectly which is amazing. However on the taking lens, a 83mm Ansco Anastigmat(Wollensak?), has a small but distinctive chip in the very center. I can feel the chip with my fingernail. It can be easily seen looking through the rear as well. What is the likelihood that it will affect the image? I know this is a shot in the dark but is there any quick fix that would minimize the chip?

Fill the chip with india ink, black felt tip marker, flat black paint. The edges will cause flare.

Is there any downside to doing what shutterfinger suggested?
