Hello all, from Southwest Virginia, USA! I had been lurking on APUG for about a year, and finally decided to register my membership a few months ago. I'm just now getting around to making my first post and introduction. I don't know how much I'll be able to add to any discussion, but I'll at least have the ability to participate. Over 31,000 members now - that's great!
Many years ago (25+), I was very much into "art" photography, then other life events got in the way and I set my photo gear aside. But, pack-rat that I am, I still have all of my cameras, darkroom equipment, books and notes. I've even managed to add a few items recently. I have done more film photography in the past few months than in the past quarter century. I just need to shovel a 20-year accumulation of storage items (i.e.: junk) out of my darkroom area, and get it back into operation.
My maternal grandfather was the first, and, at the time, only commercial photofinisher (and occasional photographer) in southern West Virginia. My mother and her sister worked at his shop, and were photographers and processors in their own right. So, I guess I come by this stuff naturally.
Thanks to all for the knowledge, support, and encouragement I have received while lurking.
For you curious gear heads:
Cameras -
No. 1-A Folding Pocket Kodak (Autographic) (my late grandfather's)
Argus AF (my late mother's)
Kodak Duaflex II (father's)
Argus Match-Matic C3 (w/meter)
Certo Dolly (not the "vest pocket" - from an uncle)
Pentax Spotmatic SPIIa (2 - purchased new) and a good assortment of lenses
Pentax IQzoom 115 (great lens, makes terrific panoramics)
Olympus OM-10
Canon AV-1
Yashica MAT-124G (2 - both restored by Mark Hama)
Mamiya C330f
Calumet CC-400 & a few Caltar lenses (purchased new)
B&J Watson Press 6 X 7 (from late father-in-law)
Century 8x10 with Gundlach Turner-Reich f6.8 lens mounted in Betax #4 shutter (father-in-law)
Various odd lenses, film holders, and bits and pieces that belonged to my father-in-law
A few Polaroids
Other various light meters, strobes, and film holders that I purchased new.
Darkroom -
Omega B-22XL (purchased new)
Omega D5
Beseler 45MCRX (purchased new)
plus all the usual lenses, timers, trays, and tongs that you would expect to find in a darkroom.
My current obsession is FSU rangefinders. Don't have one...yet.
G.A.S. - me? Naaaah......
