Another New website

Ciao Tim,

Your B&W work looks great. Liked the color graffiti images as well.

I liked that the site is not all clutter, clean and simple layout. The text was rather small on my screen and I almost missed your B&W portfolio. Seems each group of photos started on the second photo.

Looks great.

Did you create the site yourself?
Who did you choose to host it?

Rob- thanks for your comments. I have been back and forth on font size and brightness- this is good to hear from you. I am hosted with DreamHost, and no, I did not create the site. The vision was mine, but my friend put it together for me. His name is Glen Thompson with Bluegill Media.
 
The question you have to ask yourself is, "Do I want people to see my photographs or do I want them to marvel at flash animation?"

Waiting for flash sites to load is a sure way for someone to hit the back button. Since about 80% of people are off a website in under a minute, why give them the encouragement to click away even earlier?
 

Good point, and I realize using flash was a risk but I tried to keep it to something that loads pretty quickly. Interesting stat about how long a person stays on a website though... Thanks.

I like the site - nice use of Flash (i.e. not Flash heavy). Lots of people are down on Flash, but when it's used well it is a really useful tool for getting your website out there. Try creating a website that will render predictably in IE 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, 8.x, Firefox 1.x, 2.3, Opera 1.x, 2.x etc. etc. None of these will tell the user if the page they're viewing will render correctly, they'll just try and render it as best they can - sometimes with dire consequences. Flash, on the other hand, will inform the user that they need to upgrade their player if it's out of date for the site they're trying to view. Very useful. Plus, a good Flash site will scale to whatever window/screen size the user wishes without the crazy things that can (and do) happen to most HTML pages. As broadband rolls out across the western world (and beyond), download times are inconsequential really. Here in rural Canada we get 15MB/Sec download speeds! In any case, a well constructed Flash site will load content as and when it's needed - thus keeping the initial download small.
 
Thanks for the support I don't think the site would fit my vision without Flash....
