I do like the concept that, when you already have the best equipment, you can no longer delude yourself that a better camera would improve your skills.

35mm format was chosen to utilise cine film, not specified by Leica so there's another gaff

Yep. IIRC, Oskar Barnack had asthma that prevented him from carrying a larger camera. They did get that part right.
