Anomalous Tripod Block Identification

Hi everybody, I've got a very interesting piece of large format equipment which I am so far at a loss on identifying. I had purchased it with the hope it might fit my 8x10 Korona Pictorial View but alas it does not. After searching quite a few forums and Google, I still have no idea what the original camera might have been for this tripod block.

No manufacturers markings that I can locate. Features a push button spring lock mechanism and geared movement with double tightening knob on one side only. All brass hardware.

I was beginning to think this was from a 2D Kodak but I believe that is not the case. I've included photos with the tape measure for reference. Would anyone happen to recognize the make? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

It had looked (at least to my eyes) quite similar to the 2D blocks in terms of the shape, style of hardware/coloring, and placement of the knob as well as its checkering. However, I slowly learned that those blocks were all friction only; that is without that strange locking mechanism.

As a short addition to the original post, I'll add that I'm nearly certain it is not for a Korona camera, either. Here is a screenshot of an original Gundlach-Korona manual which states the blocks were available for their 5x7 and 8x10 models. However, the photo shows the block sporting a different knob placement and appears to be friction-only.

You might ask this question over on the Large Format Photography Forum (largeformatphotography.info).
There are some real experts over there; it's likely that someone will have the same part attached to their camera.
And someone out there bought an old wooden camera missing its tripod block...

Hey thanks a lot for the suggestion, Mark. I actually did post this same question over at LFP but no ideas yet.

It's interesting you mentioned the camera missing this piece because when I purchased it there was a pneumatic shutter included. Not a Packard, but the name is escaping me at that moment.

All that to say I'm assuming this was all part of larger lot that likely got separated. Hopefully the right person will see it and the bell will go off.

You might want to surf the piercevaubel.com website.

The dual-knob situation on the photographer's right side might suggest either Rochester Optical (R.O.C) or G. Gennert, possibly others.

Late to this thread, but I can confirm the Korona 5x7 and Whole Plate cameras do not have gear rails on the bottom; only the top for the standards.
