Watched the trash guys pick up a D2V, Beseler 4x5 and a 23C II enlarger and compact it in the back of the trash truck today. Didn't even separate out the metal from trash.

Wonder how many dollars (when they were new) went down the tubes?

I tried that once, I tried to give parts away here and didn't have but one taker. I had managed to give away the lens boards and negative holders locally before we moved.

I had bought the beseler 4x5 and D2V at an auction a couple years ago for about a buck apiece. The 23CII I saved from going to the dump in Topeka.

I had a job move and just didn't have room to store them anymore, and I already have a newer Beseler 4x5 in my darkroom.

Just the times I guess.

That is sad, I just bought a Omega D2V, along with a bunch of other darkroom equipment. And I already have a Beseler 45MX. It's tough with enlarger, since they are a expensive to ship and a pain to box. One thing that I do to keep "cool old things" out of the landfill is to give then to a local artist that does found object sculpture.

That's just depressing. I can't believe no one would take one of the 4x5's.

In many communities there is an online outfit called 'Freecycle", now hosted by Yahoo, so each local unit is a Yahoo group. People post things for free or things they need. We've gotten some stuff and given plenty of other stuff away to keep it out of the landfill. Unfortunately, nobody responded to my several requests for any old photo gear of any type anyone might want to part with. <grin>

I wish you lived here. I'll raise a glass in their honor.

Even if noone's willing to pick them up, don't forget to drop'em in to local art/photography colleges - It could help someone else go a long way!

I'm still looking for a Omega 421-933 lens board...at a reasonable price

and a filter holder for an omega 4x5 universal, not the mount on-the-lens type ..................
