And how's your spousal support?

I got married 1 and 1/2 years ago, and my passion for the photography also started in the same period. My wife has always been supportive all the way through. The only time she was a bit on the "no way" side is when I started considering developing my films in the bathroom, because she was a bit afraid of the smell. But now she comes in there with me most of the times and likes to do the agitation and washing parts .

She's not too technical, but she understands the basics and knows how to use our two SRLs cameras; indeed, she seems to have a good/poor shots ratio much higher than mine!

And she insisted that I should have that used Nikon F100 that I dreamt of but considered too expensive.

Fear not your not missing out, I have one and it's nothing special compared to other cameras I've owned

Well, in the end we bought that camera. I am just a beginner and I cannot say I have tried to use too many cameras to compare it with, but I am quite happy with it since I can use most of the functionalities with my AI/AIS lenses (most importantly the spot metering), auto-focus excluded of course.

But maybe I am going OT here

Arrr there's nowt wrong with auto-focus once people learn to use it to it's full advantage and with my eyes these days it saves me missing some of the street / reportage shots I take. I guess for me it's just feels like a work-horse without a soul, but that's just me

I'm lucky too!
My wife isn't terribly interested in the technical aspects of photography, but she is completely supportive of my hobby.
Actually, she really likes my work and is a great critic. She looks at all of my contact sheets and helps me with the selection of the best frames and the cropping, dodging and burning.
She even has me produce for display in the house, for her scrapbooks and for gifts to other people.

We have a very synergistic relationship. My wife is a graphic artist (still in school); and she's my most honest critic often pushing me to try harder when working on a print. Occasionally, my vision doesn't match hers; and I'll pursue a negative/print till I feel satisfied with the results. Usually she will then also recognize what sparked my passion about an image. She also uses some of my images in her graphics creations.
She handles the bill paying so does realize the cost of my hobby; but recognizes photography's importance in my life.

My wife is very supportive of my work. She understands and encourages my passion for photography. She's even willing to serve as my assistant from time to time. Who can complain when the wife is willing to lug a tripod up a mountain? I'm blessed.

I can't even begin to say how important and supportive my wife has been all these years. We've been married 24 years, 2 years into our marriage I decided that photo was my lifes quest, quit my job went back to college for art and photography and left her with morgage payment , car payments and everything else while I tried my hand at something absolutely impractical. It was really tough financially but never created problems, only bound us together even closer. Even today 20 years later she goes through my film with me, goes shooting, even plans trips with an eye towards accomplishing photographs. "What a Women!" People always ask "how is it that I can hang out with all these models and not have an interest in them other than photographic?" The answer is really easy. None of them come close to what I already share with my wife. She is the other side of my brain and I adore her.

I am very lucky, she is very supportive. I couldn't ask for more. The important thing is to maintain the right balance and not abuse all the support you receive and be there and available for her when needed. I enjoy my interest but also share beautiful moments with her - she's my real passion. I discuss with her, receive advises, suggestion, artistic hints and ideas on shots, composition and lighting. She also paid for a tuition day with a pro photog as a present for me. Last but not least... she doesn't ask me why I don't move on to digital cameras
