I don't imagine many of you are interested in analogue photography , but if you do have some time next week, the Melbourne Silver Mine has it's annual "Unsensored" Exhibition on at the Collingwood Gallery from Nov 25. Details are Dead Link Removed, and I've even managed to get my act together and print something for this, which is being hastily/beautifully framed by the nice folks at Neo Frames (also in Collingwood) even as we speak...

There's also an exhibition of Wolfgang Seiver's work at Melbourne University; I haven't the details at the moment, it was mentioned in communication last Thursday.
Collingwood!? You won't find a Cats supporter within coo-ee of Collingwood, dear Marc!!

Good one Gary - Wolfgang Sievers is one of my photographic "heroes" - aaaand, the giant gearwheel in his famous photo of same was engineered by my late Uncle when he worked at Vickers-Ruwoldt (which is now Richmond IKEA)!! Anyways - I found a link to the exhibition you mention here!

Huh? The Vickers factory is now IKEA!? OMG. I've been to IKEA many, many times and never realised that; perhaps because the landscape has changed so dramatically!
I too, just love that iconic image, "Gears for Industry"; there are others though.

Ah, yes. Victoria Gardens is what my niece mentioned to me a few weeks ago — shorthand for IKEA! I did wonder what she was referring to (she lives in Morang Road Hawthorn, not far from there). She's never heard of Vickers, nor the ever seen the iconic plant that once dominated that part of the Yarra edge. I thought the building would have been fit for heritage listing, but apparently no. All I have is a fading memory of the megalith and wondered, in my student youth, what on earth went on in the place.

Thanks MArc,

I have put this in my diary for when I have some spare time without kidlets. Should be able to make time.

This opened this evening and I was super-relieved my print had survived the hanging process!! Some interesting work, and maybe 10% actual darkroom prints (and proudly labelled as such). Well worth popping into and supporting your local analogue photography enthusiasts (and admiring my awesome print - the only Large Format one there!!)
