I love it when I come across references to film, and analog photography when I'm not looking for it. I've just started this novel,

written and set in 2011, and no mention of photography in the cover blurb. Just a few pages in when I come across this:

I've not read enough yet, to decide if it's a book I'd recommend, but chances are very good now that I will read all of it.

When have been surprised and pleased to come across references to analog photography?

I looked this up, and it don't look like a book that would interest me. That said, thanks for bringing it to our attention. I love to see references to film photography in literature, movies, etc. Shows at least some people remember it, and know some of us still photograph that way.

Yup, not much good without the bellows. Good thing she knew that. I assumed the bellows and dark cloth were thrown in there for the unenlightened. When the words large format, or view camera bring a blank stare, I always say "with the bellows and the cape over the head, ya know?"

As a double Xer, I was also glad to find a female LFer in a novel.
