Hi all,
Hopefully linking to external posts is OK? I originally wrote this post for 35mmc but there's a big backlog for review and publishing, so I've got impatient and parked it on my personal blog (I mostly use that to archive stuff I've posted elsewhere).
I recently bought an Ensign Cameo 6x9 (well 2.5" by 3.5" sixth plate) plate camera. It came with a box of Ilford FP4 plates that seemed to be pretty much unopened so I thought I'd have a go at using them. I wrote up my experience here. The plates worked out pretty well and I even managed to get a darkroom print from one of them.
It's a lovely camera to use (more or less a copy of the Voigtlander Bergheil, with a very good Ross Xpres lens). I've managed to grab another 5 packs of plates of various brands and ages and am looking forward to playing with glass plates a bit more. Luckily for me Jason Lane will be including sixth plate 1.3mm as a stock sizes with his new plates giving me even more options!
