Well, ever growing as CiM is. . .

Things have slowed down. I had been ill on and off for a month or so. There was no October issue as there were no submissions and looks the same for November. And after some brief discussions with PE about his work on his book I came to the decision to change CiM into a quarterly journal. And this time it is going to be in print. This will be easier for me as time constraints are not making CiM impossible, but difficult in its current monthly publication schedule. And cutting it loose is NOT an option.

We will start off with a winter QJ coming out shortly after Christmas and will run more or less every three months thereafter. So I will be looking for submissions. Check out the mag in my signature to see what we're about if you are not familiar with CiM. I will be looking for technical articles, primarily. We will also run a portfolio and a final page image each issue.

And there's more at our homepage at Dead Link Removed.

So for those of you who might have been wondering, now you know. CiM will not be going anywhere but up. We look forward to providing quality photographic material as relates to traditional film photography for a long time to come.

An announcement...

Chris,
Hope you are recovering from whatever "the bug" was; look forward to the new production schedules. I have enjoyed the many "how to" articles as I head back to the darkroom.

Thanks for the update!
John

Of course, John. While we're on the subject of new things, what subject matter would you, the readers, like to see covered in the magazine? New subjects, old material rehashed. Doesn't matter.

Chris;

I would like to remind you that new submissions don't appear out of thin air. The editor(s) must go out and beat the material out of potential authors.

PE

Oh, beleive you me, I'm a'beating. So, when am I gonna get an excerpt, oh Ronald, darling?

I'm more new to darkroom work than I'd care to admit, and my enlarger has a light falloff area that I don't know how to fix. Someone recently posted a question here about aligning an enlarger, so maybe a good topic would be just that - a technical, detailed article on how to get your enlarger lined up. Id be happy to subscribe to this new CM for that alone - either that or I go buy a new enlarger! The money is there. What it gets spent on is open to debate

It could be very useful to gather a bunch of tips and techniques to help new darkroom and film users - or offer a nice refresher for those that know everything. Obviously things like how to check your safelights or test for base fog have been covered extensively elsewhere but it might be nice to have a handy all-in-one place to send folks. Sort of help people ease into the water as gently as possible.

I just discovered Creative Image Maker Magazine --- how did I slip past it before?

INTERESTING, to say the least!!!

Bookmarked - I will return!

We have added some new material to the website. Bernd H. Daub has an infrared photography article written in German. If anyone can translate it to English, I would be in love with you for the rest of my days. Edwin Brosens' belated Macro Part II is up as well. Some new recipes, Kodak D-61a and D76 and replenishers.

The Art Deadlines suggestion is excellent. I make extensive use of their service. You'd really get CIM out in front of a lot of people that way.

Wirelessly posted (BBBold: BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.297 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I'll will check that out tonight. Thank you very much.

Well, I am putting this thing together and a few ideas occur to me.

1st- I wanted this to be print only. I can imagine the uproar. So I am going to simultaneously offer an electronic download for free. It will be an abbreviated version. There will be much more info in the printed magazine.

2nd- I am waiting on one more promised submission from a special guest. But as it stands, the first printed CiM looks to be over 50 pages in length. Holy Wow.

3rd- Looking for a January 13th release which coincides with CiM's second birthday.

Further news as events warrant.
