Hi PE,
I have read your old posts concerning optimal evals of hypo. Do you also hare a preference for determining optimum evals of ammonium thyocyanate and ammonium thiocyanate + Au ?
Bill Winkler

Bill, although you can use either Ammonium Thiocyanate or Thiosulfate as a chemical sensitizer, the Thiocyanate tends to keep better. Thiosulfate tends to decompose.

However, if you use either as a fixer, then the Thiosulfate is suggested as the Thiocyanate can cause gelatin swelling and reticulation.

Thus, intended use can determine which to use.

PE

PE,
My question was really about sensitization, not fixing. But you have answered my question. Thanks
Bill
