Taking inspiration from the Moersch lith additive Ω which appears to be an Ammonium Carbonate solution, I mixed up a 10% solution of Ammonium Carbonate adding 10ml to 990ml water for use as a second bath before the stop bath. Due to the unpredictable nature of lith printing, I cannot be immediately sure of the effect of this second bath. After re-reading the Moersch instruction sheet for the omega additive, I noticed attention is paid to the strong smell of the solution and the provision of a dropper, to alleviate the need to open the bottle. My 10% solution produces no such strong smell, so perhaps the Moersch solution is a much higher concentration.

Any experiences of using an Ammonium Carbonate second bath?

Tom.
