Any users among us? How does it fare against more established brands? Specially interested in their X 89 odorless fix and H 10 wetting agent. Thanks.

Amaloco is/was a well-established brand, just more local (Germany and surroundings) than big brands like Ilford & Kodak. They were in the business for many decades. Until 2008 Amaloco was a proper business and produced at their own plant; presently, the manufacturing is done by a contract manufacturer for the brand owner Nordfoto Versand. I guess/assume that Adox is the actual manufacturer, but I'm sure someone will come along to provide a definitive answer.

Fix is fix and wetting agent is wetting agent. These are generally no-fuss, straightforward products and I wouldn't (and in fact never have) hesitate switching from one brand to the next for whatever reason.

Thank you. It seems in the past Amaloco was a much bigger player, also offering colour chemistry as one can read from their web page. However you are quite correct they were basically not know outside of the Netherlands and Germany (someone can correct me on this), As for fix is fix and wetting agent is wetting agent here I do not agree. I've tried many wetting agents and, the one that gives me best result is Mirasol from Tetenal. Fomafix for instance is very well buffered, lasts (does not participate) for years but is slower than Hypam (which does participate!). Adofix is not particularly quick either, so there are differences one can discern.

Then maybe not let it sit around unused for years.
Sure, there are differences, but how meaningful are they, practically speaking? Does it hurt to buy fixer a little more often (e.g. twice a year instead of once every two years)? Does it hurt to extend fixing time by a minute? These are the kind of real-world differences we're talking about. That's where my comment 'fix is fix' came from. From a practical viewpoint, there's not enough going on to warrant much research, IMO.

YMMV and all that; of course feel free to disagree.

Of course, in the end developer is developer. Which might not be far from the truth to be honest, but but but we all know there are massive differences among these brews hence the existence of Photrio and alikes

Yes, certainly so, and I admit to having used more than one developer for B&W - and still do! So there's certainly much room for debate. My take on the fixer & wetting agent is very personal and I gladly accept that others feel very different about the matter.
