What: Winter 2016 CPHT-Pacifica Alt-Photo Meeting

When: Saturday January 23rd, 2-5pm [note different time from our usual]

Where: 511 East Holly St, Bellingham, WA

Agenda:

.) Informal print viewing and discussion of new work

.) Discuss alt-photo shows seen and goings-on

.) Main program: Phillip Chin will update us on progress for the 2016 Symposium. He's been talking with potential speakers and looking at venue options.

.) Discuss topics for future meetings

.) After-meeting 5-6pm to discuss 2016 Symposium. Those who participate in the discussion will be asked to commit to time and effort to plan and execute the event. We will need around 4-5 solid volunteers to begin working on the event now and continue through to the event in the Summer/Fall of 2016. Time commitment will be approx. 20-30 hours. Without a team effort, the event will not happen.

It drives me wild that there isn't more advance planning for these things. I came to one years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was the last one where the date was picked well in advance. With less than 2 weeks notice, and not living smack up on the border, there's no way I can make another. I just asked Craig to take me off the mailing list. Depresses me no end that I'll never get to another.

That depresses me to hear that, sly. But I agree with you. I don't see why the dates couldn't be set well in advance.

It seems like the usual short sighted view of certain big city types. The lives of those outside their charmed circle are beyond consideration. Every time I've filled out a survey asking about preferred dates for these things I've stated I would like to come, but need at least a month of planning time. 3-6 months would be better. It takes me a full day of travel to get there. It ain't worth it unless I make it a mini-vacation of 4-5 days at least. The one I did make it to was worked up to a 2 week trip. Time off work, places to stay, etc can't be arranged in 10 days. Craig has totally ignored my-oft repeated request.

If you, Andrew, know of anything coming up on the lower mainland that I might be interested in, please PM me. I go whole years without being able to talk to other film/alt types face to face.

Quinton Gordon (not a 'Puger afaik) is in Victoria if I'm not mistaken and is doing wonderful work and processes.
