I would like to let APUG members know about my workshop held July 5 to July10 at the Photographers' Formulary in Montana, Alternative Large Format Techniques.

In this workshop we work with alternative methods of exposure and different ways to develop and print large format negatives. We will use a variety of film and print developers including ABC Pyro, Pyrocat-HD, TFX-2, and Ansco 113 (amidol).

Some of the techniques we will practice will be working with reciprocity failure for long exposures; stand development; tray development; tank development; contact printing; water bath development; using enlarging lenses for close-ups; quickly calculating bellows extension and depth-of-field.

This is what some of the participants had to say about last years workshop:

“I have a greater appreciation for all things involved in large format. The fear of my 4 x 5 is gone and now it is time to get out and shoot.”
Stephanie Slaymaker, Casper, Wyoming

“You are a wonderful teacher. I got good news when I got back a gallery wants to give me a solo show . . .”
Peter Sumner Walton Bellamy, Brooklyn, New York

Please contact the Formulary for more information, 800-922-5255, http://www.photoformulary.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=2&tabid=14.

I hope you will be able to join me this year.
