For those of you in Northern California there is an exhibit of alt-process work that opened in Sacramento on January 5. This is a group show that was juried by me and Sacramento photographer Mary Swisher. Just about every alt-process you can think of is represented in the 60-plus prints in this exhibit as well as a very wide range of imagery.
The opening reception is Saturday January 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Viewpoint Gallery. Go here for more info: Dead Link Removed
This looks amazing and for it to be in Sacto is a miracle. I was born and raised in Sacto and it was such a one horse town then. Maybe there is hope. Wish I could see this.
How did I miss the entry annoucement for this show?! So it goes.
I was hoping to drop by and see the show, but I won't be thru Sacremento until the end of February...though there is a slight possibility that I'll be tin Sac at the end of this month (but my three 9 yr old boys will be more interested in going to the train museum...I might have to strike a deal with them!)
Thanks for the heads up -- it would be a fun show to check out.
Kerik - yeah, I'm coming out for the opening. I got a great ticket on Southwest - $225 or so R/T, through Chicago Midway. I try to find any excuse to come out to California anyway, so this was a good one.
Just became a member here last month (subscription check is in the mail to Sean), and haven't really spent any time on the Alt-photo list...so I missed it all.
I did get a carbon print in this year's Yosemite Renniannse show -- the opening is always a good excuse to go to Yosemite in the winter (last weekend of Feb)! And I get to go without the boys!
I'll keep my eyes open for next year if they have another alt process juried show!
I had a chance to see the show this week-end. I did about 3 "laps" around the gallery before my three boys had had enough (I had to send two out of the gallery after the first lap so that they could wrestle out on the sidewalk instead of the gallery floor) -- what can one expect from 9 year olds?!
It is a great show...must have ben very difficult to pick work from CD's...and Kerik and Mary did a fine job!

And congrats to APUGers who have images in the show! Can't say I reconized any names...if I had been there on my own and could have given them my undivided attention, perhaps I could have worked out some names -- I concentrated on the fine images and processes instead.
