What: Fall 2015 CPHT-Pacifica Alt-Photo Meeting
When: Saturday October 17, 1-4pm
Where: 511 W Holly St, Bellingham, WA
Agenda:
.) Informal print viewing and discussion of new work
.) Discuss alt-photo shows seen and goings-on
.) Discuss news from the Daguerreian Society: they are expanding to include alternative processes. They also offer awards for exemplary papers/presentations. 2015 Symposium in Pasadena, CA November 5-8, includes limited signup tours of the Getty collection and Huntington Library. 2016 Symposium will be in NYC.
.) Discussion of survey request: Can we set up some kind of venue to sell or swap alt photo equipment or prints?
.) Main program: David Pitcher will present presenting a Gum Bichromate session. David will cover aspects such as paper sizing, alternative options to paper include synthetic spun fabric like Evolon or gelatin silver papers, simple pin registration, multiple gum layers and maintaining paper dimensional stability, pigment selection, and coating techniques.
.) After-meeting 4-5pm to discuss 2016 Symposium. Those who participate in the discussion will be asked to commit to time and effort to plan and execute the event. We will need around 4-5 solid volunteers to begin working on the event now and continue through to the event in the Summer/Fall of 2016. Time commitment will be approx. 20-30 hours. Without a team effort, the event will not happen.
